Gardens in Potrero

Walking home from the Samurai exibit I swung by the community gardens up on the ole Nuevo Potrero.

Due to having a small patio, and all my garden is in pots, so I would love to be able to get a plot up here (there's an apiary too!). Unfortunately the wait list... is 75 people long... This first is over a year ago, so it looks like I'm stuck with patio pots for now.

Naan on the grill

Super easy and tasty. From now on any bbq I go to I'm bringing some home made naan.

Also we opened up the first batch of the sour pickels from two weeks ago... Super nom nom nom!!!!

5 buck salsa

Roasted up anaheims, jalapenos, onion, garlic snat tomatios. Throw in the food processor with some cumino, lime juice, and kosher salt.

Easy, only 5 bucks worth of stuff from the farmers market. Now we have two big jars of salsa and zuccini enchiladas in the oven.

The Mission

Though I live in Potrero Hill, I spend much of my time out of the house in the Mission. This is primarily due to there not being much out side of houses in Potrero, and because walking down 25th is the bulk of my commute each day.

It's an odd neighborhood full of expats from latin America, a large population of hipster kids , hippies that out grew the Haight, and the national symbol of San Francisco : the bum.

Anywho, I loved this pic and wanted to share a little slice of what, love it or hate it (and I do do plenty of both) is becomming the center of the city for me these days.

At the Elbo room

Well I'm a little disenchanted with over micro blogging, so here's a mini blog instead.

Im currently hanging out at Elbo room enjoying one of the best Manhattan's I've found around here.

I'm meeting Jen for our Wed Date Night, which basically is the one mid week time we allow ourselves to go out and act like normal people rather than recession impacted, crazy busy, trying to be healthy people.

Not sure of dinner plans yet...

Bay to Breakers

Well I was just cheering section, but Jen made excellent time in the 10min mile section. I really would like to train up and run next year, but didnt have much notice this time.

Have the day off today. Some job hunting, some apartment hunting, catch up on some reading. A much needed chill day.

At a Motel 6 in Deming, New Mexico right now. The pic makes it look bad, but really its an ok room for just a sleep and a shower.

Jen and I have to get on the road in an hour or so to make Phoenix to visit a friend of hers then push on to get home late late tonight.

Its been very pretty country side so far, and I love making the trip with my babycakes, but Im eager to be home...

A visit home

Well no posts lately cause the phone has been grumpy with Gmail (the phone's fault) and I usually post in transit. Well no longer! Taking it all by the reigns and doing it on the lappy.

Lots of developments! Things going on! Happenings and what not! Too many exclamation marks!

I didn't get either of the jobs I was interviewing for. I had a real good feeling with the Pfizer one and both interviews went quite well (they even said how they were impressed with me). However, they decided to go with someone else. :( There's lots of competition in IT right now around here. But I'm going to keep at it.

Jen and I are doing fabulous, which should be evident by the FB updates, so I won't go into that here.

And : I'm coming back to Austin for a day next Monday! It's gotten to the point where I decided my car will be too much of a boon to have here, so Jen and I are flying out Sunday night, spending the day packing and what not, then driving back to SF. If anyone's up for it I was thinking about going out for a drink and a visit that Monday night.

Ziosoft

It's a rainy day (which I love) and im riding the N in to work.

I spent a while this morning composing an email to a recruiter from Ziosoft who was interested in my resume. The job sounds perfectly suited to me and Im super hopeful/excited. Only catch is it's in Redwood city which will facilitate either a move or a car (possibly both). Ill just have to wait and see.

I went hiking with Jen up at Cataract Falls yesterday. Absolutely beautiful but strenuous. We were exhausted by the time we got back to SF, but i take it as a good sign that Im not sore this morning.

On a bus change got distracted by the heart of the city farmers market. So many groovy treats :)

Home?

Well after hell week at the cafe (which is my excuse for lacking posts lately) Ive finally had time to get my living quarters somewhat in order.

A bit stark still, but much more liveable so far. Much thanks to Jen for all her help with it naturally.

Rented a car yesterday and picked up Deanna and Anna. Yay!

Driving around SF was quite an adventure, kinda makes me want a car now, but that could just be the Texan speaking.

So glad my ladies are here!

Off today, downtown right now to pick up my zip card then back home to get online and reserve a car to go pick Deanna and Annelise up this afternoon.

Feeling a little funky after weird sleep lastnight. I blame too much Poke (but man it was tasty) oh! And fish and chips made with Salmon. Fanfreakingtastic.

Baked city

One of the things im really loving about my new town is the proliferation of bakeries through out the city. It seems like every few blocks you can dig up a tasty independant bakeries, even if not, the chains (Boudin etc) are pretty decent.

The pick has nothing to do with bakeries, its the appetizer at Pacific Catch last night: pretzel goldfish and edamame. Surprisingly tasty combo.

I nearly lost my voice yesterday due to the sinus demon infesting my nasal passages right now. Not talking I realized, I talk too much. It was incredibly frustrating.

Well im back again waiting for a bus. Ive got to find a bike this weekend...

Super snotty.

Yea it aint a pleasant title but its what I got happening. Something has been blooming the past two days and Im coughing and congested. To use the local dialct "I'm hella congested"

Just got off work and going by the pub for a brandy tea with lemon, then back to it in the morning. I hate to say it but im really enjoying food service work.

It won't stop raining :( Well ok it just did, but I dont expect it to last. I need to get things done in a dry fashion but that doesnt seem to be on the agenda.

So I'm out running errands and looking for my bag that I left at Joxer (it wasnt there.. boo) and ran into Kyra my new fav bartender there. She bought me a pint which helped smooth the loss of the bag.

Off down town now to find a lamp. Might also stop by Powel st to do some general shopping (like to find a new bag to lose)

The picture above was from about a week ago. I got myself lost in the park (easy to do) and wandered down to a flooded little valley (nook?) with pines stretching up from th temporary lake. Frequent drips disturbed the glassy surface of the water. I found it to be an incredibly beautiful moment...

I'm surprisingly tired. Despite sleeping late im feeling a bit under the weather. Been kinda burning the candle at both ends this week. A pot of tea and a nap once home then on to unpacking and cleaning.

Well a long week of work at the new job is over and I'm finaly finishing up moving errands. I'm waiting on the train here then off to fishermans warf for trader joes and world market (and for the love of jebus new work shoes). Hope fully it doesnt rain too much.

Fishermans won't be infested with tourists on a day like this right???

I woke up this morning in my new home to the rain comming down and a back yard full of lilys. Wow.

Emotional on the jetway

I'm here in the airport bar, exhausted and impatient, finishing my likely last bock for a while (yech, it's a ziegen) and feeling such lightness and heaviness at the same time.

It's hard and I'm deeply sad that I'm leaving behind so many friends, loved ones, and my home city for 27 years, but Im also giddy with the bright future I have awaiting me. I can't wait.

I'm also listening to Andrew Bird's "Firey Crash" which may be inadvisable.

So here i am. At the airport bar, having my last bock for a while (only Ziegen, yech) and
preparing to get on the plane.

Well had a great Valentines at Deanna's. Great night, with great people. I'm going to miss everyone so much, but I'm done with good byes, it's time to go.

A little more packing, then lunch with the fam at Gumbo's (yea!) and it's off to the airport.

I am trying deperately to stay busy with the move only a week away, but that doesn't seem to help the frustration. Oh don't get me wrong, I have an insane amount of things to do but I am at the point where im just anxious to be gone and getting resettled.

Not much more to say, just have to be patient and keep packing.
